Kundapur, Jan 6: Police arrested two interstate thieves and recovered valuables worth Rs 16 lac from them.
The arrested are identified as Hashim A H (42), a resident of Kasargod and Abbobacker Siddik (48), a resident of Manjeshwar. Both of them are remanded to judicial custody.
A theft occurred at the residence of Prasanna Narayana Acharya on September 17, 2022 over which a complaint was registered at Kundapur police station. A special police team in the leadership of Kundapur police circle inspector, Kundapur PSI Sadashiva Gavaroji and PSI Prasad Kalahala and staff arrested the two accused in the connection to the case on December 27, 2022 from Madikeri.
Investigating officer Gopikrishna K R, CPI Kundapur who took the duo to custody found out that they had broken into houses at Udupi, Malpe and Kundapur and sold the stolen jewellery to Nirchal Kalikamba Jewellers, Manjeshwar.
Valuables worth Rs 16 lac produced by the jewellers including 300 gram gold, 1,481 gram silver have been recovered by the police.
The interstate thieves reportedly conducted thefts at various places in Kerala and Dakshina Kannada district.
The operation was conducted in the leadership of Kundapur station police circle inspector Gopikrishna K R, PSI Sadashiva Gavaroji with other staff members under guidance from the senior officers.
