Udupi, Jan 9: According to the final voters’ list, the amendment of which was done recently, Udupi district has the highest female voters in Karnataka. Bengaluru rural district has lowest number of female voters. This was informed by chief electoral officer of Karnataka in a tweet.
Excepting Udupi, in all other districts, male voters outnumber the females. After the revision of voters’ lists there are 50548553 voters in the state. Out of this 25449725 are males and 25094326 are females. However, in the district of Udupi, out of the total 1016245 voters, 490060 are males and 526173 are females. Deputy commissioner (DC) Kurma Rao said that female voters outnumber males in all the five legislative constituencies of the district.
During the revision of voters list of Udupi, 13816 youth voters were registered newly. Out of them the number of females is more.
The DC said that the district is a model to the whole state in terms of female voters. More emphasis was given to include youth voters during the voters’ list revision in the district. Special campaign was held in all colleges. Public applied mostly for registration and amendments and all the grievances are addressed without any objections according to the information provided by Kurma Rao.
