Man crushes stray dog with car, Bengaluru police launch manhunt

Bengaluru, Jan 10 (IANS): Police have booked an FIR and launched a hunt for a man who has been accused of deliberately running his car over a dog and killing it in Bengaluru, police said on Tuesday.

According to police, the incident took place on January 7 and came to light lately after the video of the gruesome incident went viral on social media.

The video shows the street dog sleeping in the middle of the road, trying to move away after knowing the car is coming towards it. The car driver, after observing the dog moving away, increases the speed and crushes it under wheels intentionally.

The dog under the wheel died on the spot. The efforts of locals to help the dog have gone in vain. The locals said that if the car driver would have given a horn, or slowed down a bit, the dog would have moved away.

The police have identified the car registration number (KA 05 MP 5836) and launched a hunt for the driver.

I am an animal lover. But in this case instead of blaming the driver some reasons for this accident needs to be verified. The vehicle appears to be entering this lane from the adjacent lane and he must have observed the dog on the road so close. I think it was a panic situation for the driver who may be a less experienced driver. Hitting such a big animal will definitely cause some damage to the vehicle which no owner will like. I feel pity for the animal. if intentional I condemn the act of the driver.

cruelty towards animals is not right except in order to defend ourselves...if dog comes to bite me I will definitely throw stones or shoo it away..but this is really brutal...the driver should be taken to task...but if he is a big shot then as you all know case puska...40 percent to khaki....

Roshan, mangaluru / Bengaluru Hey, they are dumb animals. They don't know the road is for commuting. Even children below 5 years don't know about road and they accidentally come on road sometimes. We humans have to stop vehicles, let them pass and go.

All i can say is that animals have better sense than you. Yes I do feed, rescue and take care of strays and I am blessed to experience it. Only the dog in this accident would know the pain it went through. I wish you don't get run over in a similar fashion like karma for your cheap thoughts and comments.

He must be named and shamed on all media platforms and especially in his locality... Every household known to him must know what a cheap guy he is...
