Mangaluru, Jan 13: An awareness session was conducted at Stella Maris Higher Primary School in Kotekar by Robinson D'Souza who is a well-known cyber security expert and the founder of CyberSapiens in city.
The students of 6th-10th standard were the participants at the session. Robert, along with his colleague Shashidhar Patgar who is a cyber forensics expert, conducted the session which covered the topic, "How to make the best use of Social Media and the Internet."
The do's and don’t on the internet, a few important sections of the IT ACT 2000, and tips to be safe and secure from cyber crimes with case studies were disseminated among the students. A live demonstration on a few common cyber-attacks such as Phishing was held to help the students understand the need and value of Cyber Education.
The students were also requested to share these points with their parents and elders in the family to ensure that the message reaches out to a larger audience too. Around 500+ students and teachers were present at the session.
Addressing the students, Robinson D'Souza said "We all have been provided with a smartphone and access to the internet. However, no one has taught us how to use these smartphones and the internet. That is the reason why our students are becoming easy victims of cyber crime. We at CyberSapiens take the responsibility of educating students to protect themselves from cyber-crime."
CyberSapiens, being a cyber security and cyber forensics company has conducted more than a thousand awareness sessions in schools and colleges, and have been contributing a lot to educate people on the very basics of cyber security and eradicate cyber crimes.
