Mangaluru, Jan 15: An absconding accused wanted in more than 35 theft cases has been arrested by the city police.
The absconder nabbed is Hameed (48), a resident of Beltangady.
He has more than 35 theft cases, 22 warrants against him in Mangaluru City Police commissionerate, Dakshina Kannada and other districts of the state.
He has cases at Mangaluru North, Puttur, Uppinangady, NR Pura in Chikkamagluru town and rural, Venur, Punjalkatte, Beltangady, Sringeri, Bantwal, Mudigere, Belur, Kadaba, Dharmasthala, Hariharapura and Kodagu police stations.
On 16 November 2022, as per a complaint, Umarabba who was running a wholesale flower shop on K S Rao Road, had kept cash of Rs 9,00,000 to be given to a floriculturist having units in Chitradurga and Tumkur. However, for one month the floriculturist did not collect the money from the complainant. So, Umarabba had kept Rs 9,00,000 in his shop locker.
On November 17, when the complainant's son opened the shop he found that Rs 9,00,000 was stolen from the locker along with a CCTV DVR worth Rs 10,000.
A complaint was filed in this regard at Bunder Police station under the section IPC 454, 457, 380. The police after investigations nabbed accused Hameed.
