Another Hindu temple vandalised in Australia: Report

Melbourne, Jan 17 (IANS): A second Hindu temple has been vandalised in Australia with anti-India graffiti, leaving the community in a state of shock, a media report said on Tuesday.

The vandalism of the historic Shri Shiva Vishnu Temple in Carrum Downs, Victoria, comes just days after the BAPS Swaminarayan Mandir in Mill Park was vandalised by anti-India supporters, The Australia Today reported.

"I urge (Victoria) Premier Dan Andrews and Victoria Police to take strict action against these goons who are trying to scare the Victorian Hindu community," Usha Senthilnathan, a devotee, told The Australia Today.

Senthilnathan, along with other devotees, noticed the anti-Indian graffiti saying, 'Target Modi', on Monday when they came to calebrate Pongal festival at the temple.

"I can't tell you how upset I am for witnessing a second Hindu Temple vandalised for Khalistan propaganda," Hindu Council of Australia's Victoria chapter President Makrand Bhagwat told The Australia Today.

On January 12, the walls of BAPS Swaminarayan Mandir were defaced with anti-India graffiti, saying 'Hindustan Murdabad', and also marked with praises of Indian terrorist Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale -- a supporter of the creation of Khalistan for Sikhs -- as a 'martyr'.

Victoria Police confirmed to The Australia Today that an investigation into the vandalism of the BAPS Swaminarayan Mandir incident is ongoing.

    some comments are also blaming Modi for this Vandalism of temple just because a terrorists says that. If thats your stand then i am really sorry this will keep on happening because you are blaming a person who is defending our religion. This would have happen more agrressively if Congress is in power and without a action afterwards. You would not even know this news in that government.

    People of all religion are frustrated with present Indian govt. More this govt advertises and displays its fake love for its religion, vandalises other’s holy places, construction of temples over other’s religious structures and ill treats minorities more it’s reaction will be felt all over the world. In fact the US, EU and gulf states have already waned Indian govt over its communal idealogy on its citizens and Modi was banned from visiting the US when he was CM of Gujrat. Modi had visited China and Pakistan frequently for his hidden agenda. People have come know BJP’s deceptive misendeavours only for selfish gain.

    Shouldn’t happen, we need to respect people and their faith. Churches too are being vandalised in our country on a regular basis, all this started after the razing of the Babri Masjid - as they “What goes around comes around “ so think twice before casting the first stone … think of the repercussions this will have on our family , society & and the next generation
