Doha, Jun 2: Christopher Almeida, the young and dynamic president of Konkan Toastmasters Club, who works as country IT manager for DHL Express was conferred the Division Governor’s Best President Award for 2010 – 2011 in Division ‘E’ at the recently concluded Qatar Toastmasters Annual Convention (QTAC).

The QTAC was attended by over 350 people, which included dignitaries, guests and toastmasters from the 35 clubs in Qatar. Also in attendance, as a keynote speaker was Mark Brown, the 1995 world champion of public speaking. Joyce Alvares represented Konkan Toastmasters and Area 68 in the Humorous and International Speech Contest. 

Konkan Toastmasters club was also nominated in three categories of the Qatar Falcon Awards: Best Club Website, Toastmaster of the Year and Best Club in Division ‘E’. The VP Education of the Club MTM Jovita Pereira was the club’s nominee for the Toastmaster of the Year Award. 

The theme for year 2010 - 2011 for Konkan Toastmasters club was “Let’s make a difference”.  And true to the theme, the executive committee headed by Christopher has made a remarkable difference in taking the club to a higher level by invigorating the club members. Fifteen new members joined the club and the club has won five awards/ribbons from Toastmasters International during the year 2010 -2011

TM Christopher Almeida has dedicated this award to his fellow club members and his executive committee who played a key role in achieving this eminent milestone. Christopher says “This was my opportunity as president of the club to give back to our club what I have learnt from Toastmasters over the period of years. Special thanks to my family and club members who were the driving force on achieving this success”.

    As and when you visit the Konkan land please make it a point to visit some of our prominent Toastmasters Clubs in Mangalore. In fact, the next District 82 Convention will take place in Mungalooru, and if possible, we would also like to be present in our beloved home town and share the joy of comeradarie and friendship with so many talented leaders and communicators in our own garden of roses.
