Mangalore, Jun 3: The authorities of Indian Strategic Petroleum Reserves Limited (ISPRL), Engineers India Limited (EIL), and SKE & C – Karamchand Thapar (KCT) Joint Venture project expressed regret over the unforeseen blast that occurred recently while undertaking civil works for underground rock caverns (part – A) for strategic storage of crude oil project in Mangalore, in which three workmen died and four were injured.

The authorities expressed condolences to the bereaved families of the deceased and agreed to award compensation amicably to their survivors.

Meanwhile, the authorities are minutely reviewing the safety checks at all stages and at all locations in order to allow smooth operation throughout the project.

The authorities have arranged for further treatment of four injured personnel in Bangalore with boarding and lodging facility for their accompanying relatives.  It has also appointed a full time employee to ensure that the injured get better treatment.   

The authorities are in the process of resuming the work at the earliest, with full safety checks put in place and better co-ordination among the workmen.
