Mangaluru, Jan 23: It was a memorable evening for fans of Konkani music on Sunday, January 22 as Konkani's yodeling king fame singer Melwyn Peris presented yet another enchanting musical nite at Capitanio school-college campus here.
The musical extravaganza was organised by SSVP Angelore unit in memory of their golden jubilee celebration and with a noble aim of raising funds for its various projects.
Msgr Maxim Noronha, vicar general of Mangalore Diocese, Walter Nandalike, founder, Daijiworld Media Group, Michel D'Souza, philanthropist and NRI businessman graced the event as chief guests. Fr William Menezes, parish priest, Angelore presided over the stage programme. Ivan D'Silva, president, SSVP, Angelore was present on the dais.
The chief guests highlighted the service of the SSVP Angelore unit and appealed to the audience to join with them for the noble cause. They also appreciated the leadership and service mentality of Angelore parishioners who have led and supported the SSVP local unit for over 50 years.
As many as 18 singers rendered the best of Konkani songs. Melwyn Peris became the only composer and singer in Konkani after the late Wilfy Rebimbus to complete 110 nites.
Along with Melwyn Peris, Anitha D'Souza, Robin Sequeira, Zeena Pereira, Edith D’Souza, Joyal Machado, Eva, Vibha, Liana, Verina, Herschel, Nihal, Bindu Cutinha, Shainy, Olinka, Adline and Precilla rendered their beautiful voices in the show.
Senior comedians Dolla, Judy, Vithi and stage artists from Angelore provided a generous dose of humour with comedy skits. Teams Naach Sobhann, AYM Angelore added more spark with their amazing dance moves to some of the songs.
'Sangeeth Guru' Joel Pereira with the support from Roshan D'Souza Anjelore formed the orchestra.
Well-known TV anchor Leslie Rego compered the event with his unique style which got huge acceptance from the audiences. He also joined with Dolla for the fun talk. Robin Angelore was the off-stage compere.
