Bangalore: IFKCA Congratulates CM Yeddyurappa on Landmark Move for Christian Welfare

Daijiworld Media Network—Bangalore (RD/CN)

Bangalore, Jun 3: Ronald Colaco, president, International Federation of Karnataka Christian Associations (IFKCA), led a delegation of Christian’s leaders to meet state chief minister B S Yeddyurappa at his official residence ‘Krishna’ here on Friday June 3 to congratulate him on behalf of all Christians of Karnataka for allocating Rs 50 crore in the budget for the welfare of the community in the state.

The congratulatory letter stated that it was for the first time in the history of Karnataka that the state administration has allocated funds in the budget for the welfare of Christians. The delegation especially thanked the CM for giving the green signal for the formation of the Christian Development Board.

The IFKCA, led by Colaco, had presented a memorandum to Yeddyurappa on February 15, 2011, to introduce special programmes for the welfare of Christians in Karnataka, and the state has positively acted upon this by setting aside Rs 50 crore in the recent budget.

IFKCA state convener Denis D’Silva, former DGP F T R Colaco, Christian leaders Felix D’Souza Taccode, Joachim Serrao, Michael Baptist, Vitus Pinto, Arun Fernandes, Anoof Saldanha, and K Stanley were present on the occasion. State chief secretary I S N Prasad was also present.

The incentive was given by Mr. Yedddyurappa after Home Minister’s strictures about church attacks which elaborates as follows:-
“WHY NOT PUNISHED THE CHURCH ATTACKERS AND WHY JUSTICE SOMASHEKARS’S COMMISSION REPORT WAS IMPROPER/INACCURATE”
WOUNDS OF THE HEART CANNOT BE HEALED THROUGH MONEY. Why he has taken 3 years to the Christians to help???

Why the cases against the Christians were not withdrawn Mr. Yeddyurappa????

Mr. JRAO I QUOTE YOUR COMMENT: THE REAL FACT IS THEY ARE OPPOSITION SPONSERED LAW AND ORDER PROBLEM CREATORS IRRESPECTIVE OF COMMUNITY AND YOUR CONCERN FOR THEM MAY BE GENUINE BUT GOVT. UNQUOTE.
WERE THE CHURCH ATTACKS SPONSORED BY THE OPPOSITION. ARE YOU KIDDING???
IF THE OPPOSITION HAS SPONSORED THEN WHY THERE WAS LAWLESSNESS IN MANGALORE FOR A WEEK?
    KINDLY EXPLAIN.

Agree with Kuldeep Kamath, India, Mr.Charles D'Mello,Pangla and A.S.Methew. U.S.A.

BJP already done damage to our community in Karnataka- justice is denied to us, our community youth are still in prison who tried to protect our worship places, innocent women and children. First time in History of Karnataka so many worship places were attacked and so many silent prtoests took place, it hurts to see our oldage people, women and children on the road for no fault is done by them.

    Dear Fellow Christians,
It is a fact that our sentiments as Christians have been hurt after this Govt. took form. However let me remind you that there is no other Govt other than Shri Yeddyurapp's Govt that has made any specific and dedicated allocation to the Christian Welfare to the tune of 50 crores.
Let me ask each one of you whether the Congress governments of the past have made even a Re.1 contrubution to the welfare of Christians. They have taken us for granted since they know through sentimental talk they will mesmerize the Christians to vote them to power, but what have they given back to the Christians. We have a very top politian who is one of the senior advisors to the Congress High Command from our very own Mangalorean Catholic community. How much has he done to help employment among our youth, health care, or any development work though he has full authority to do so. This is Congress for us....
The BJP says you X-tians are Congress followers, why should we help you in anyway, ask the Congress to do so.....
However there has been some change for the better from BSY. Let us to start thinking out of the box. Let us think for our future and for the future of our children....

Yaddi is using the politics of stick and carrot towards the Christian community in Karnataka. Mr. Colaso don’t fall for him. Political game is won by doing the right thing. To the solutions of Christians in Karnataka is to float a political party. We lack this instrument of bargain with major parties. How ever insignificant may be we are as political entity they will have to come to us instead of we going to them as beggars. And one day it will be as powerful as the Church in Karnataka. Church has not able to protect us but a political party will. Call it Christian Democratic Party and be the pioneer who has found permanent solution for the problems the community.

During the last decade, the government of Andhra Pradesh
allocated huge amount in rebuilding some of the old and
    historically prominent Christian Churches
    in Hyderabad and some other
    cities.

It is noteworthy that in the State
of Karnataka, this is the first
    time the government has allocated
    any donation specifically
    for the minority Christians.

    If MR. YEDDYURAPPA is contributing
    this amount from the government
for the first time without any
    uderlying political vested
    interests, but only through a
    genuine conviction and concern
by the physical and emotional damage caused to the Christian community
of Karnataka under his administration then I wholeheartedly salute him.

    MR. YEDDYURAPPA, you may please
    release all the Christians who
are in jail and other legal
    entrapment in association with
    the Church attack issues. By
doing so, you can be totally free
from a burden and a new chapter
can be started with the Christian
    community of Karnataka. All the
best wishes and prayers to have
    that day very soon.

Allocating Rs 50 crore for Christians in Karnataka for their welfare is a positive step in the right direction.
It is the first time in the history of Karnataka that the state administration has allocated funds in the budget for the welfare of Christians.
I hope that the poorest of the poor among Christians will be promoted.
There is so much to do to eradicate poverty among them. Primary health care and education are essential and jobs.
I am sure the money will be spent on projects that poor Christians will get a better future.
Poor children who are able to go to school even english medium school will develop self confidence, trust and determination.
They will achieve a high command over English and by knowing English they will get in touch with the outside world.
Maybe some of them could study, becoming lawyers, surgeons, teachers or even scientists. And I hope they would never forget their roots and seeing the needs of the poorest of the poor.
After getting educated and skilled they can help and work for the poor and fighting legally and peacefully for their rights.

The International Federation of Karnataka Christian Associations will do its best for the welfare of Christians.
Beside giving financial assistance, education, primary health care, shelters, houses and jobs their faith gives them hope and joy.

    Best regards
