Karkala, Jan 27: Importance will be given to large scale development of the tourism sector in the coastal region in the upcoming budget, said chief minister Basavaraj Bommai here.
He was speaking with the reporters near the helipad here prior to attending the inauguration ceremony of Parashuram Theme Park.
Speaking about the upcoming budget, the chief minister said, “We will give importance to the coastal region in the budget. Coastal belt has a prominent role in the economy. Importance will be given for the economic development of the coastal region. Support for basic employment will be extended. Programs will be formed to develop coastal tourism on a large scale. Wait and watch. Suitable grants will be provided.”
Replying to Siddaramaiah's statement on frequent visits by prime minister Narendra Modi to Karnataka, Bommai said, “Siddaramaiah is scared about the turnout of people during Modi's rallies in Gulbarga, Bengaluru, Mysuru and Mangaluru. To hide his fear Siddaramaiah is making such statements. We are not turning the coastal belt into a laboratory of Hindutva. Congress is appeasing one section of the community only. They have left behind the other poor, dalit and backward class people who were seeking their support,” he said.
He refused to comment on the outrage of Dalits, Muslims and Kurubas in Kolar against Siddaramaiah.
