Mangalore: Wine Mart in City Raided for Flouting Rules

Mangalore, Jun 5: Officials from the state excise department, Bangalore, raided a modern wine mart in Balmatta here on Sunday June 5 evening.

The raid was conducted as the wine mart had been flouting rules in the licence.

According to the licence, the wine mart is not allowed to give out parcels, and is not allowed to have more than one entrance.

The shop in question broke both these rules by supplying parcels and having about two or three entrances.

The excise team seized the shop's billing machine and documents. The team was led by excise commissioner Arvind Jannur.

About 15 officials were part of the raid operation.

    as i know the shop is one of the leading sellers in mangalore. they are selling at govt. rate. the reason behind ride may be for bribe?. . . . . . shame on officials . . . .

    The reason given by Excise department for ride is stupid. Having more than one door is beneficial in case of fire emergency also what is the problem in giving the parcel ? Fact is they had not bribed by owners of wine mart.

    THE EXCISE DEPTT, REVENUE DEPTTT, SALES TAX DEPTT, INCOME TAX DEPTT & OTHER DEPTT WERE EXIST SINCE 1947.

    YOUR CONGRESS RULED FOR 60 YEARS & MADE CORRUPTION AS A PART & PARCEL OF A LIFE.

    WHY YOU GUYS CRIBBING NOW FOR CORRUPTION.

    I guess excise officer not only took the cash register and documents but also a boot full of booze.

    And if you look at the sixth photo, the cop looks like he is having a peg!

    And for excise officers info, the establishment had two entrances as well as was supplying parcels since the day it opened and the news was all over the place. What took them so long to realise this??

    Let me share my personal experience with the excise dept as an employee of a prominent star hotel of Mangalore many years ago. Every month-end a stock report had to be submitted, but it would be accepted only with 'two envelopes' with it. The money would be shared between the Excise Inspectors & and the clerical staff of the dept. Again every year during bar license renewal, heafty sums were demanded by top officials. Many times surprise visits were made by the greedy Excise staff - not for any checking anything, but for money and free food. For sure this raid too was intented for money. If there were rules in place for entrace doors and parcels etc what were our Mangalore excise inspectors doing all this time?? If one visits our taluk office, Corporation office, RTO etc etc people in powerful positions demand money to get our jobs done. Untill every single person stops paying bribes, corruption will never end in India.

    Jokers from Bangalore spent Government money to have a site seeing trip to Mangalore.
    If it was against the norms , then why was it in the First place approved ??
    Looking at the pot bellies of the cops , looks like they are very sincere cops ))
    As mentioned by a few , it is a case of Jealousy or Mamooli.
    Anyways , Mangalore has become a Joke for anyone and everyone.
    Even after 64 years of freedom ,One can never say that Indians have got independence !!!!!
    We are all bound to the corrupt system and the corrupt politics.

    There I am wearing safron chaddi in the last photograph!
    I am a regular customer to WINE GATE and they are superb.Their service and customer servive is one of the best.
    What I think is that the authorities did not get their Haftha.

    On first look at first picture seemd like any other seen on Daijiworld…...but then I changed my mind.....

    At first it looks as one of the jobless bystander looking to be photographed next to two unruly deadbeat looking cops...

    It then occured to me that he was an OFFICAL with his shirt open till his chest , defiantly standing with hands on his hips and literally begging by sticking his shirt pocket out to fill it up!!

    The constable on his left has his pants right above his stomach to hide his bulging belly!!

    Such uncouth professionals ever seen on this planet !! I would be ashamed to be seen like that ever…. forget being photographed !!!

    Also each constable looks like a specimen in different Khaki colored attire

    Please correct me if I am wrong...if they ever look professional in any of the photographs above!!

    We are the laughing stock of the world with our corruption. Do not make a mockery of professionalism. Have a HEALTHY looking body, dress WELL professionally and earn the respect to be called an " OFFICER"

    Last but not the least, I will be SURPRISED to read any posts "Praising" them for the "good" work after seeing these pictures.

    Who the hell are they to tell them how many entrances they are supposed to have ? If you do not give out parcels what do you do ? Do you drink in the shop ? If they have flouted any rules why so many police personnel are wasting their time there ? Can’t one or two handle the case ? It is sad. It is nothing but jealousy

    Not enough filling pockets of these officials will act pormpty. If you ask these corrupt officials to do something good for society they are helpless and handless. Look at these officials faces hungry for money. There are many things you official can raid and make a better living and society around.
