Mangaluru, Jan 31: A case is filed in Kankanady police station accusing a person of assaulting a policeman on duty at temple fair of Maroli Suryanarayana temple.
Police personnel Vincent Ashok Lobo and Dinesh Rathod were on duty in police uniform on January 29. Around 9.30 pm, Achal parked his scooter on the public road near the temple in a manner that was causing inconvenience to public and traffic. The policemen asked Achal to park the scooter a little ahead.
Enraged by the instructions of police, accused Achal said to police Vincent Ashok, “Who are you to ask me not to park the scooter on the roadside? You do your work. I will not move my scooter. You do whatever you want.” Achal left the ignition key in the scooter and left.
As the scooter was causing disruption to traffic and pedestrians, the police moved the scooter a little ahead. Accused Achal immediately came running and held the shoulder strip of the uniform of Vincent Ashok Lobo, abused him and slapped him on his left cheek, left part of the neck and chest.
Kankanady police are probing further.
