Mangaluru, Jan 31: Mohammed Shaleel, a resident of Belma in Deralakatte entered the Guinness Book of World Records for a special achievement in football. He has broken the Guinness records held by two achievers in football.
He has achieved 10 rounds in only 30 seconds with a football. A person at Dele, England had achieved 7 rounds in 30 seconds during 2017. Similarly a female football player, Tasha Nichole Terani, a resident of West Lake village, California had hit 18 rounds in one minute in 2020.
Mohammed Shaleel is the son of R B Abdul Hameed and Mumtaz of Belma in Deralakatte. He is a final year student of Yenepoya Aviation and Logistics College in Kulur. He had submitted an application online to achieve the record. As the response came in a month, he had submitted the test through online video. The result was announced via email in a week.
Shaleel was interested in football from the age of 10 and used to play behind his residence with his friends. He had received training for the last two years. He also had support from his family members, especially brother and cousins. His friend Mudassir Dash of Kasargod had gifted a football to him.
The certificate will reach Shaleel in a week.
His college principal has congratulated him and celebrated the feat by distributing sweets. “I am really glad to see my name in Google. I will continue my efforts to break the record. I hope to be a part of the state and national football teams,” he said.
