Daijiworld Media Network – Mangaluru (MS)

Mangaluru, Feb 5: It is learnt through CCTV cameras of nearby shops and buildings of the jewellery shop, where a miscreant stabbed a staffer to death, that the killer ran a long distance before riding pillion on a bike that was waiting for him with a person. However, police sources are unclear about the bike which was used in the act.

Two or more miscreants had arrived near the vicinity of the shop before the act and did surveillance of the area. The shopowner used to go for lunch at a specific time everyday. Staffer Raghavendra was the only person who used to be in the shop at that time. It is possible that the killer must have noted this and stabbed the staffer on Friday.

It is unclear whether the person who stabbed the jewellery shop staffer came on a bike or any other vehicle. Police have also got the visuals of a person resembling the one recorded in the CCTV camera of boarding an auto at the same time. Though a suspicious bike moving around has been recorded in the CCTV, its registration number is not visible, police sources indicate.

A case is filed with north police station. The owner of the jewellery shop has raised a complaint with the police that three golden chains weighing 12 grams worth Rs 60,000 were stolen during the act. The killer wore a mask and a jerkin. The CCTV recording of the camera inside the shop is not clear as per police sources which is also causing a delay in tracing the culprit.

Raghava Acharya (55), the victim who was stabbed to death was head of a financially poor family. They are living on a rented house in Attavar. He used to work in various jewellery shops since some years. For the past seven years, he was employed in the shop where the killing occurred.

Raghava Acharya’s one son had gone to Dubai recently in search of job. Another son is also jobless. His daughter is studying in PUC. Wife works in a bakery to make ends meet. Now the sudden murder of Raghava has devastated the family.
