Beltangady, Feb 8: The police on Tuesday evening raided a lodge in Ujire on getting information tip-off from Rashtriya Hindu Jagarana Vedike activists that flesh trade activities were going on.
Five women and two men were taken into custody by the police following the raid.
On February 6 in the night, the lodge was raided under the guidance of SP Amate Vikram by the Bantwal police sub-division DySP Prathap Singh Thorat and his team. Later on Tuesday in the afternoon, the lodge owner was summoned by Beltangady circle inspector for an enquiry where he was issued a warning against such activities. But, it is said flesh trade continues unabated as it is suspected to be a huge racket.
A lodge in Ujire has been seized and the Beltangady police are continuing investigations to collect more information, it is learnt.
