Kuwait: Udit Narayan to Cast Musical Spell with ICS 'Mahakte Lamhe' on Jun 10

Kuwait, Jun 9: Indian Cultural Society (ICS) will present "Mahakte Lamhe" with renowned Indian playback singer Udit Narayan and Deepa Narayan on Friday June 10 at 7.30 pm at Dr Kamil Al Rays auditorium, American Intl School, near Police Station Maidan Hawally, Kuwait.

Another attraction of the evening will be performances by reality show stars Neha Chouhan and Nayan Rathod. The chief guest for the event will be Vidhu P Nair, Charge d" Affaires, Embassy of India, Kuwait and the guests of honour will be prominent personalities from Kuwait.

After hosting memorable events such as "Dil Ki Awaaz" with Kavita Krishnamurti and Bharti Singh, "Jashn-e-Bahara'n" with Talat Aziz and famous poets, "Nazar Ke Samne" with Kumar Sanu, "Taal se Taal" with Alka Yagnik, "Shaam-e-Ghalib" with Kader Khan, Shaam e Sangeet, Shaam-e-Shibani, Suroon- Ki-Shaam, Shaam-e-Ghazal, Geet and Ghazal Nite, Shab-e-Meraj, Jhoomte Sitare and many more, "Mahakte Lamhe" will be another rich musical treat of evergreen songs by Udit Narayan.

Nayan Rathod, popular for his reality shows, will entertain with his versatile singing. Nayan became famous in his marvelous performance in "K for Kishor". Simultaneously Lucknow-born Neha Chouhan, who established herself as an excellent performer in many reality shows like Chak De and Comedy Circus will also be performing at the show.

Deepa Narayan's singing career reads like a fairy tale. She has created a niche for herself among female singers with her solo and duet performances, exquisite, mellifluous voice, versatility in singing different styles and types of songs.

Udit Narayan began his career in Nepal singing for Kathmandu Radio Station where he used to sing Maithli and Nepali folk songs. He got his first break in 1980, when noted music director Rajesh Roshan asked him to be a playback singer for the Hindi film "Unees Bees" and was given the opportunity to sing with Mohammed Rafi. He later provided playback along with Baby Preeti in the 1983 hit 'Bade Dil Wala' for the song "Jeevan Ke Din".

However, the actual success story of his career began in 1988 with the hit Bollywood movie "Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak", earning him a Filmfare Award. He soon became one of the leading playback singers in the Indian film industry, with several hits to his credit like ‘Pehla Nasha’, ‘Koyal Si Teri Boli’, 'Jaadu Teri Nazar’, ‘Tu Mere Saamne', 'Dil To Pagal Hai,' 'Kuch Kuch Hota Hai'  and many more.

Udit has sung in more than 2,600 Hindi films and in 15 Indian language films like Hindi, Bengali, Assamess, Oriya, Bhojpuri, Rajasthani, Gujarati, Marathi, Kannad, Telegu, Garwali, Manipuri, Haryanvi and Maithili. He has also acted in two Nepali films: "Kusumey Rumal" and "Peerati".

Some of his private albums are Bhajan Sangam, Bhajan Vatika, I Love You, Dil Deewana , Yeh Dosti, Love is Life, Jhumka de Jhumka, Sona No Ghadulo, Dhuli Ganga, Ma Tarini and others. Udit Narayan has performed in 1,100 stage shows in India and abroad like the USA, Canada, West Indies, Far East, the UK, South Africa and many European countries. These include Screen Videocon Awards, MTV Best Video Awards and Pride of India Gold Awards.

He was in the panel of judges in Indian Idol 3 and Waar Pariwaron Sony TV. In 2009, he was awarded the "Padma Shri" by the Government of India, India's 4th highest civilian honour.
