Bengaluru, Feb 10: The election manifesto of ruling BJP will be aimed at enabling people to build their lives unlike those of opposition parties, which mislead people, claimed Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr K Sudhakar on Friday.
Addressing the media after the BJP State Manifesto Preparation Commission at the party office, the minister asked Congress party which has promised 200 units of free power to all domestic users to inform the number of hours of uninterrupted power supplied during their rule. He also challenged JD(S) leader and former Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy to declare a Muslim as the party’s chief ministerial candidate.
Dr Sudhakar, who has been named as the convener of the BJP State Manifesto Committee, said the BJP will prepare its manifesto for the people and to meet the aspirations of the people by listening to the concerns and suggestions of people across the state.
"BJP will not try to mislead people like opposition parties. Our Manifesto will have programmes that will help people to build better lives," he said.
Dr Sudhakar said: ``The manifesto committee met and deliberated on formation of district and taluk level teams. Our objective is to ensure that we understand the aspirations of people and prepare a manifesto that will give wings to their aspirations. It will be manifesto by the people and for the people. Next meeting will be held on Monday where about 200 leaders from all districts will attend and give their inputs and suggestions. Today we had a fruitful meeting and we will finalise the title of the manifesto in a day or two.’’
The minister said the party will have initiatives that will address the needs of every section of the society including women, youth, senior citizens, physically disabled and so on. Our government has successfully handled the pandemic and two flood situations. The manifesto will lay out a vision for post-pandemic economy. The promises in the BJP Manifesto will be realistic and honest, he said.
Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai has delivered Raita Vidyanidhi scholarships even though it was not promised. Our government has delivered more than what was promised. Unlike opposition parties, BJP manifesto which will not mislead people. It will be a manifesto that will enable people to build better lives.
He said Congress is now saying they will provide free power. But if you ask our farmers they will tell you how many hours in a day they got uninterrupted power when Congress was in power.
"We should carefully observe and understand what Congress is up to and what happens to our state if they come to power. BJP is thinking in a constructive way to give programs that can improve the quality of life of citizens," he said.
Referring to Kumaraswmay's recent comments, Dr Sudhakar said there is no need to respond to his comments. ``I challenge him to announce a Muslim as CM candidate," he said.
"Kumaraswamy’s comments were completely unwarranted. Union Minister Prahlad Joshi is a good administrator. BJP doesn't need suggestions of him or C M Ibrahim, who is now working as JD(S) state president. Let them announce Ibrahim as CM candidate. Let JD(S) challenge itself before challenging others," he said.
Reacting on Rahul Gandhi's speech in Parliament Dr Sudhakar said he has made baseless allegations. Every Indian knows that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has dedicated his entire life to the nation and is living every moment of his life for the country.
