Abu Dhabi: Ruchika Kalra Crowned Winner of Dazzling ISCC Fashion Show

Abu Dhabi, Jun 11: Ruchika Kalra was crowned Fashion Show Queen during the India Social and Cultural Centre, Abu Dhabi annual Fashion Show 2011 Extravaganza held at the ISCC premises on Friday 10 June. Aparna Satyadas and Mangalorean Leann Vas were the first and second runners up. They were honoured in the presence of a full-house audience.
The closely contested event brought forth hidden talents of beautiful ladies of Indian origin between the age group of 18 to 35 from all over UAE. The event showcased poise, intelligence and beauty.
The show commenced at 9 pm with Abdul Salam, honorary general secretary, ISCC welcoming the gathering, followed by presidential address by honorary president Ramesh Panicker. He acknowledged the support of sponsors for creating opportunities for members and the public and added that Fashion Show 2011 is the premiere event that has exhibited the talents, confidence and beauty of young ladies of India.
The show was ably compered by Mithun Ramesh (radio jockey of Radio 96.7, Dubai), who conducted the proceeding with ease and aplomb.
The fashion show, the main event, was brilliantly directed and choreographed by Ajay Ashok. There were 17 contestants who showed grace and confidence.
There were two rounds prior to the elimination rounds. The first round showcased Indian traditional costumes where the contestants walked the ramp in beautiful Indian sarees, churidars etc.
The second round was the western attire round displaying stunning dresses. Eight contestants out of 17 were selected for the next round.
In the final round, each of the top eight contestants was asked two questions each by two judges by means of lots. This was the decision making round, wherein the top three contestants were selected for the coveted prizes.
Ruchika Kalra was crowned the Fashion Show 2011 Queen, followed by Aparna Satyadas as first runner-up and Mangalorean Leann Vas (daughter of Dolphy and Leena Vas) as second runner-up. Leann was also adjudged the Lady with a Beautiful Smile. Lady with a Beautiful Costume title was won by Harmind Josh.
The winners were awarded with cash prizes and gift hampers.
The judges for the event included Aruna Tulusimohanan, Richard D'Souza (finance department), Mini Sharma (MD of 7 Media) and Farzana Parveen (Miss India UAE 2011).
Bollywood dances choreographed by Asha Nayar kept the audience entertained throughout.
The vote of thanks was proposed by vice-president John Verghese.
The entire event was well-organized and meticulously planned and was a feather in cap for the ISC committee members, specially their honourary entertainment secretary Ashok Kumar who had put in tremendous hard work for the success of this premiere event.
The NMC Group of Companies and UAE Exchange were the main sponsors along with other sponsors.
