Mangalore, Jun 11: In a shocking discovery, several human skulls and bones were found in a gunny bag near a garbage dump at Morgan's Gate here on Saturday June 11.

The gunny bag is believed to have been dumped at around afternoon. However, as the bag was securely tied, no one suspected.

The incident came to light only in the evening when dogs pounced on the bag and ripped it apart. Much to the shock of passersby, human bones and skulls rolled out of it.

Several people who gathered at the spot out of curiousity were shocked at the sight. Pandeshwar police arrived at the spot and shifted the bones and skulls to Wenlock mortuary for further investigation.

It is yet to be ascertained as to who was behind the deplorable act.

Dr. Nazareth just disposes this as medical college dump, but this matter is serious! Dumping human skeletal remnants in a dump yard, if it has been done by students they should be taken to task. This is a big blotch on the reputation of Mangluru town, going the Bihari way!!!!

Nara Bali is very common ritual in Uttara Kannada and surrounding Maharastra and most of these cases go unreported so that angle should also be pursued by the police!

We cannot just pass this off as medical dump on assumptions and presumptions! It is a very serious issue as it involves large qty of human skeletal material. Where are so many missing people vanishing, untraced? This requires to be thoroughly investigated. This finding is another big blotch on the reputation of Mangluru!!!

This news item though looks sensational a plausible explanation is offered by Anwesha and Dr. Edward Nazareth. Hope people will take note of this and not get unduly alarmed and waste their precious time posting irrelevant mails on the net. On the other hand Police too should investigate and if this is done by outgoing medical students, they should be advised of the proper mode of disposal of this study material rather than dumping this way, which creates chaos and doubts in the minds of general public like us.

It is really sad to read some of the unwanted comments posted in this column without studying the pro&cons of the subject by some of our fellow brothers and sisters.Simply blaming yeddy, chaddy, reddy or any other government does not serve the purpose.Criticize or comment anything which should be worthy and constructive.Don't throw any negative light on anything.Positive criticization is always welcome and always welcome and negative criticization is always unhealthy, destructive and always have bad impact on everything in our life, wherever and whatever you are. Before commenting or criticizing just analyze yourself and see that what is your contribution towards whatever may be the issue, what you did. Before asking others what you did,ask yourself what you did, what is your contribution towards society,at home, towards nation, towards charity, people and so on.Always we must remember when we are pointing one finger at others, three fingers are pointing at you. That is the classic example for what you are that itself shows you are three times worst than others.have you ever noticed it?.I do agree that some of the commentators in general and Dr.Edward Nazareth in particular wisely put forth their genuine opinions. That is their real practical expression.Always welcome such opinions, those can be helpful in solving the problems rather than ridiculously throwing ugly comments whatever they feel like uncivilized entity just to gain a mileage.

These appear to be from medical students. The bones used for study are intact, clean and are warnished as it appears in these pictures Every medical student is expected to have one set of human bones for study during the first year of MBBS. These are normally procured from senior students or from some traders who sell these. In medical college hostels human bones are normally found in many of the rooms which are passed from one batch to the next. A new set of human bones costs around Rs.2,000 to Rs. 3,000 in Mangalore now. Some students must have thrown them to the dustbin while vacating their rooms. It may be better if the medical college managements inform their students not to throw human bones in the public dust bins rather to return them to the anatomy departments where it may be of use for fresh students.
