Cong to Embark on 60-day Walk in State from June 15

From Our Special Correspondent
Daijiworld Media Network - Bangalore

Bangalore, Jun 13: Opposition Congress party will be embarking on a state-wide 60-day walk covering all polling booths, wards and panchayats across Karnataka holding a huge series of 10,901 meetings.

Interacting with the cadre and educating the people about the achievements made by the Congeress-led United Progressive Alliance government in contrast to the scandals that occurred during the three-year rule of BJP Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa regime will be part of the exercise to reach out to the masses, according to KPCC Chief Dr G Parameshwara.

Releasing the brochure, ''Congress walk to reach people,” brought out by the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee, Dr Parameshwara said that the maiden programme would be inaugurated at Kora village in his home constituency of Koratagere in Tumkur district on June 15.

Simultaneously, other leaders of the party would launch it at either a booth or panchayat or ward headquarters in all the 224 Assembly constituencies on the same day, he said.

The function was attended by Kagodu Thimmappa, who heads the 15-member committee to monitor the programme, Leader of the Opposition in the Legislative Council Motamma, former union minister C M Ibrahim, Veeranna Mathikatti, Basavaraja Rayareddy and B K Chandrasekhar.

The KPCC President said that the programme would culminate with a state-level rally, the date and place of which would be decided later.

Motamma said that this would help party in inculcating loyalty, so that workers, appointed as agents at the polling booths for the Congress party candidates would stay with the party during the elections.

    Dear Mr. RAJ ULLAL, Mangalore

Please read my comments carefully and my reference to the win of 4 seats in assembly election is to draw the importance of ‘Gandhi Nadige’ employed by Congress then. It is also true that afterwards Congress men thought that same trend will continue and hence did not thought necessary to go to people and lost most of the elections in DK.

Now they have realized that elections can not be won by arguing their point of view in media or press conferences but that is possible only if they go to the basics of reaching the masses and taking them along. They must have also cue from Late YSR who walked to the people all along Andhra to take on then mighty Chandrababu which finally gave the unpredicted result in the election and made YSR a leader of his own right.

BJP and BJP supporters like you may ridicule this “ Nadige” but this will surely instill confidence to the grass root workers of Congress and in turn may help Congress considerably.

Please remember winning and loosing of elections is a dynamic process and nobody is indispensable including BJP in Karnataka. I agree with you the people of our state are intelligent enough to compare the quality of governance by each party and vote in or vote out the political party when they get the opportunity to do so.

Until and unless Congress step in to internal democracy within, we cannot expect any miracle. Congress, other than BJP no party has interenal democracy. In all the parties we can see people adhoring one person and the entire part run by single person. There no room for anybodys suggestions and ideas. This is not good for democracy.

@Satish Kunder, Mangalore/Kuwait i agree with you that congress won 4 out of 8 seats in the last assembly elections in DK, but you forgot to mention that after that so many elections like MP elections, ZP/TP elections, APMC elections, other elections etc also took place where BJP is leading in DK as well in Karnataka. Anyways howmuch ever dombaratta or this type circus congress or any other political parties do, they cannot fool the people the people of our state. The people of our state are intelligent now and will think and vote towards political parties as per their own thinking. Thank you.

Rest all are ding KESARAAATA (am also one among them :)...am just having fun, want to see some Dombaraata happening. anyways nowadays in DK side the tradition of AATI KADENJA is dissapearing, may be these people can provide some entertainment. Instead of doing all these Naatak Congress should set its house in order & go back to their basics, stop playing vote bank politics and seriously look inot the issues faced by the common man. Doing press conferences & Beedhi Dombaraats is just another nuisense to public which may not help them much.

There is a very simple way to come back to power, but no one wants to go that way. Each MLA, please walk to your respective territory (kshetra) from where you have won, meet every people, see what problems they are facing and try to solve them at the arliest. See what infrastructure facilities needed at your kshetras and try to get those things done at the earliest. Try to convert your respective kshetras as models for others. This will ensure your win in next election. The news of your goodwork in your respective kshetras also spreads to neibouring areas and boosts the chances of winning for your party candidates. Why cant you all go this way? You do your "Karma" properly leave the "Phal" (outcome) to God (which will obviously be in your favor then).

Congress needs to rejuvenate the cadre and understand the election situation in Karnataka.

    Congress should do the folloiwing:
    1. Next KPCC president should be Lingayat leader.

    2. CM candidate must be hard working lady from Vokkaliga community with clean public image.
This miracle person will stump BJP in the coming elections.

    3. Announce measures for backward and lower castes.

    4. Announce measures for BPL families and senior citizens.

    5. Announce waiving farmer loans and other benefits for farmers.

    6. Announce measures for minorities especially Muslims.

    7. Do state wide padyatras with above mentioned leaders and attack BJP govt on all fronts.

    8. Also announce help for poor members of Hindu community to undertake the pilgrimages.

These measures will ensure Congress to have a huge and massive comeback in the state.

This may be the right move by Congress. But strengthening of the organization has to be done quietly and the publicity is unnecessary. Congress leaders need to talk less and do the ground work more. There is no need to match with BJP as regards the media talk because that does not determine the strength. 2004 Lok Sabha elections proved that media hype (India Shining) can not win the elections but the grass root work always wins.

Off late Congress leaders have lost the touch of masses. There is a need to encourage and instill confidence in the booth level workers so that they can take on corrupt BJP. Party can become stronger only when base is strong and congress leaders should understand this.

I remember in the last assembly elections in Dakshina Kannada, Congress employed ‘Gandhi Nadige’ and this resulted in Congress getting 4 out of 8 seats. Congress can come back to power in state only if they go to their basics of reaching the masses and taking them along.

Good strategy by Congress to counter BJP's eventful corruption ruling of three years.Congress is hope and future of India which is secular in nature and can unite the people sans caste creed ,religions.........

BJP's ideology suits only certain section of the society and it is evident after a small pause in sixty plus years of ruling for Congress, came back with a bang in row.BJP,which can't safe guard the interest of minorities and Daliths remained in back seat.

In Karnataka,Yeddy's govt running under the plank of DEVELOPMENT which I, some what support sans corruption busy with saving Yeddy's image which has given him sleepless night in three years.

Unless BJP completely over hauls it's primitive and divide and rule policy,it has no future in India.Even after a steep in rise petro-products which is main cause for inflation, people still supports CONG/UPA.

The way Congress dumped Baba Ramdev's movement by giving 'slow poison'(IGNORANCE) is the exhibition of admin capability and experience in running the bullion plus great country called India.

"CONGRESS NA NADIGE HALLIA KADE GE"
Good caption and may attract people of all walks of life.Best of luck to CONGRESS.

The mammoth development of India in world arena speaks for Congress ruling in India.
