Mangalore, Jun 13:
After yet another meeting held by the MSEZ, MRPL, OMPL and ISPR officers in the presence of district administrators on Monday June 13, job seekers among the displaced families under the Mangalore Special Economic Zone (MSEZ) were again assured of jobs and appointment letters within the next three months.

Prior to revealing this decision to the media, MSEZ, MRPL, OMPL, and ISPR officers held a lengthy discussion under the guidance of district in-charge minister Krishna J Palemar. Presspersons were asked to stay away from the meeting. Earlier the protestors said they want jobs preferably or if not jobs, at least Rs 35 lac as compensation to each displaced family. They added that unless they were compensated appropriately, there was no question of stepping back from their protest.

Speaking to media persons, Krishna J Palemar said that 2,317 acre of land was earmarked for MSEZ, MRPL, OMPL and ISRPL projects. MRPL acquired 268 acre for which, out of the 183 jobs that it generated, 86 jobs have been given. Pending 97 will be given jobs in three months' time, he assured.

OMPL acquired 442 acres land promising 302 jobs, and gave 3 jobs. Among the pending 299 job seekers, on first-come-first-serve basis 143 will be employed after the OMPL starts functioning in the next one-and-half years. Remaining 156 job seekers will be given jobs later.

ISPRL acquired 85 acre land in lieu of 58 jobs, none of them were given job till date, hence 14 will be given jobs in MSEZ and remaining 44 will be given jobs with the pending 516 job seekers of MSEZ, Hence 560 job seekers will be availing jobs in three years deadline, Palemar assured.

The job seekers were assured of either jobs, or, in case of shortage of vacancies, appointment letters with a monthly stipend of Rs 10,000 till they get a job.

Deputy speaker Yogish Bhat, MP Nalin Kumar Kateel, Coastal Development Authority chairman Nagaraj Shetty, Moodbidri MLA Abhayachandra Jain, police commissioner Seemanth Kumar Singh, MLC Captain Ganesh Karnik and Bajpe-Permude-Kalavaru Samyukta Hitarakshana Samiti president Bhujanga Shetty were present at the meeting.

The MSEZ is a money making investment team of investors including foriegn Nationa % stake. Job seekers will not get job .. But only solution is ask for 35 lalkhs money as compensation. If given job there will be no gaurantee for how long they will keep you enployed.. Why was the meeting held in closed doors keeping out the media? Why the PDFs have wait for upto 3 years to get job? And very surprising to see that Bhujanga Shetty, Shamith Rai, Melanta & Albuqurque are in attending the meeting, while they visited the PDFs protest all these days. How many suitcases have been exchanged? This is another big game plan by SEZ & our great politicians involving some 'vested interested' local thugs, to mass fool the people. PDFs, please don't believe these guys, keep your protest on till eachone gets job.

All these are assurance were made last time too but not realized. This meeting is just to break the strike and unity ( also a opportunity for the so called leaders to earn money from the mgmt!! ). Moreover they treat all PDFs employees as one - even with better qualification and experience.) BEWARE PDFs - do not fall prey to these tactics..

It looks like they are bluffing with job seeker. If they can acquire land in acres then why they cannot give appointment letter and pay Rs.10,000 / - Month till they are reaaly given permanent jos. Or simply give them the money ..35 lakhs for families. This is their ancestors land..Any dvelopemnt should be compemsated first and then acquired. All the politicians are not sincerely helping our needy brothers & family for compensation or job. It looks like the land finally will be given to realestate builders ..That may be the reason they cannot give job or Money. God helpy these poor families.
