Mangaluru, Feb 23: The inauguration ceremony of the World Sanskrit pre-conference event and stall exhibition was held on February 23, Thursday at the Mukka Campus of Srinivas University.
The chief guest, Sri Sri Sugunendra Theertha Swamiji, Jagadguru Sri Madvacharya Mula Maha Samsthan of Udupi Puttige Math, said that Sanskrit is an easy, simple and beautiful language. “Sanskrit is the world language and the mother of all languages. Sanskrit is also the root of the English language. There is an influence of the Sanskrit language on Sarvadharma,” he added.
Guest of honour, Sri Sri Vishwaprasanna Theertha Swamiji of Udupi Pejawara Math Jagadguru Sri Madvacharya Mula Maha Samsthan said that when everyone studies Sanskrit we will become Vishwamanava. “Sanskrit is the mother of all languages and all other languages are born from Sanskrit. If everyone learns Sanskrit it could be a universal language of communication and would represent the culture of our country along with the importance of Sanskrit,” he added.
Dr CA A Raghavendra Rao, chancellor of Srinivas University presided over the program. In his speech, he mentioned Sanskrit is a language which is learnt gradually. With pride, he announced that around 70 Sanskrit scholars have enrolled in Srinivas University for PhD. He also expressed his wish to include Sanskrit in degree programmes, diploma and certificate programs.
