Kaup, Feb 24: Kaup police arrested one person of the gang from Madanapallit in Andhra Pradesh that looted Rs six lac from the owner of a grocery store by distracting his attention on December 22, 2022.
Sunil (29), a native of Andhra Pradesh is the accused who is in police custody now. Andhra Pradesh police had arrested three people, who were residing at Chitradurga, in connection with a case. Out of these, two people secured bail and escaped. One accused Sunil was in police custody. Kaup police who got this information went to Madanapalli and brought him to Kaup. The accused belong to interstate gang of thieves and are involved in countless thefts in the states of Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Rajasthan, Maharashtra and Karnataka.
On December 22, last year, Raghavendra Kini, the owner of Kaup Mahalasa Store, was closing the shop in the night. Three youths who approached in the guise of customers asked for milk. Raghavendra went inside the shop and brought the milk packet in order to be given to the youths. In the meantime, the youths robbed Rs six lac that was kept in the scooter by the owner.
A case was filed in Kaup police station then.
