Bangalore: Home Minister Proposes to Dismiss Policemen with Underworld Links

Daijiworld Media Network – Bangalore (SP)

Bangalore, Jun 14: The state home ministry, which is aware that some of its own men are frustrating its initiatives to tame the underworld and anti-social elements, has taken up an initiative to end this menace by identifying such traitors. This was stated by home minister, R Ashok, speaking to reporters here on Monday June 13.

The minister acknowledged that the police department has on its rolls some black sheep, who tend to frustrate the department’s attempts to snuff out the menace of the underworld. “We are aware that some of our own personnel have been passing on information to the underground elements and rowdies,” he confessed.

He said that this has resulted in the mushrooming of underground and criminal activities. To arrest the trend, the department will be identifying the policemen who have links with the underworld and rowdy elements. Orders in this connection have already been conveyed to the deputy commissioners of police. As soon as the reports are received, the policemen concerned will be suspended from service, and disciplinary action will be initiated, he explained.

Ashok also laid bare his plans to visit naxal-affected areas and stay there overnight, with the purpose of boosting the self confidence of the personnel of the Anti Naxal Force and to inspire them.  He added that these visits will also be aimed at finding out ways and means to address various problems faced by these policemen including shortage of modern fire arms. He said he will not participate in any dialogue process with the naxals during these visits.  “The government has drafted schemes for bringing the naxals into the mainstream. If they opt to desert naxal activities and lead a normal life, the government will be extending financial assistance up to one lac rupees towards basic facilities,” he narrated.

One type of Police officials/constables is hand-in-gloves with the criminals in the region. Such policemen get regular weekly/monthly Hafthas plus special bonuses for especially given under-hand jobs. Another type is just waiting for a person to become accused and their job begins. They harass the accused by demanding bribe to make their life less miserable. Some policemen make money from both complainants as well as the accused, the former to strengthen their case and the later to give them some leniencies.
There should be a Lokayukta like organisation to cross-check the policemen’s conduct of duty in all the police stations. These officials should take the victims confidence and file a Lokayukta case against such officials and if found guilty, they should be suspended and finally dismissed with any benefits. At the same time the honest officials should be awarded with monitory benefits and perks and if permitted STAR Batches for their honesty.

R Ashok,Home Minister, did not spell out the circumstances and under what context, he was enlightened by whom is a question mark? One of the inspector(BAJANTHRI) of police who indulged in underworld activities to kill Bethanige sheena ,an underworld under-trial, in jail who escaped narrowly. However, Inspector was caught and jailed which was a shame to police department in particular' and Home ministry in general.

In Bangalore' day robbery kidnapping ,rape, murders are order of the day.Take recent incident in Hunsur(Mysore)two students were kidnapped and murdered and till now nobody have been arrested. These are not isolated incidents in the cities of Karnataka.

Under BJP govt,Police Department are working under politician's directions and their hands are tied! There is no effective policing due to various reasons.BJP govt made every police stations their place of influence. For instance in Bantwal police station, we were witnessing several incidents which are directly involved by BJP leaders for simple cases which is a subject police department. These developments paves the way for low morale of police in discharging their duties effectively.Underworld link and political involvement in the affairs of police department makes police force vulnerable in keeping law and order in tact.R.Ashok completely failed as a HOME MINISTER of Karnataka and only giving media interviews to pacify and fool the public.

POLICE DEPT.SHOULD BE FREE FROM NOT ONLY UNDERWORLD LINKS BUT ALSO FROM ALL INTERNAL/EXTERNAL GROUPS SUCH AS NAXALS, POLITICIANS AND RELIGIOUS GROUPS IRRESPECTIVE OF RULING / OPPOSITION PARTIES.
THERE SHOULD BE CONTINIOUS MOCK DRILL TEST ON ALL POLICEMEN IRRESPECTIVE OF THEIR CRADRE BY SUPERIORS OF DIFFERENT REGION TO CONFIRM THE SAME.
IF THE HOME MINISTER HAS A WILL TO DO AS PROPOSED LET HIM IMPLEMENT WITH ALL SERIOUSNESS IT DESERVES !

THE CRIMINAL LAW SHOULD BE CHANGED PERMANENTLY. ANYONE WHO HOARDS BLACK MONEY, WHO TAKES BRIBES OR GIVES BRIBES, CORRUPT COPS, MURDERERS, CORRUPT DOCTORS, CORRUPT BUREAUCRATS AND POLITICIANS, COMMUNAL MINDED PEOPLE, RAPISTS, DOWRY SEEKERS, AND THOSE WHO DEAL WITH HUMAN ORGAN TRAFICKING, PEOPLE WHO SELL FAKE MEDICINES, AND LOADS OF OTHER CRIMINAL ACTIVITIES SHOULD BE TREATED AS "TRAITORS OF SOCIETY" AND SHOULD BE TREATED JUST LIKE A TRAITOR OF THE COUNTRY. THE LAW SHOULD BE AMENDED AT THE CENTER TO PROSECUTE SUCH TYPE OF PEOPLE AS TRAITORS OF SOCIETY, AND BE GIVEN LONG PRISON SENTENCES THROUGH FAST TRACK COURTS. OTHERWISE, WE WILL ONLY GO FROM BAD TO WORSE.

The home minister has identified a key note and has taken the correct measure to arrest the problem in the system. Another important need the home minister will certainly address after this bold move is to stop the environmental underworld .Arrest the day light robbery, unmindful destructions and humanitarian exploitation besides the evil act of consciously robbing from our children.

When BJP encouraged these mushrooming of underground and criminal activities, by promoting police officers who committed crimes against the minority, how can you now take action against the same black sheep fed by powerful politicians? Do you have the goodwill and the courage to identify the policemen who have links with the underworld and rowdy elements? take care, your own life would be in danger!

I guess it should be too true to believe what Home Minister R. Ashok is saying. In today's world where corruption is ''one man's meat is another man's poison'' and rampant with no end to this scourge, people like R. Ashok are indeed a shining light and beacon-of-inspiration who provide a ray of hope at the end of the tunnel. To find such straight upright people is like searching a needle in a hay stack. Rarely do we come across such dynamic personalities daring to inculcate others at the risk of their own lives.

INSTEAD of suspending the services of the tainted policemen, my wish is that this guy should change his mind to terminate the services of these so called ''black sheeps'' who unfortunately are regarded as the ''guardian of the law''. We wish you all the very best in your endeavor and challenging assignment.
