Bengaluru, Mar 1: With the State Government employees remaining firm on their resolve of going on an indefinite State-wide strike with effect from March 1 demanding immediate steps to implement the 7th Pay Commission recommendations on pay revision, Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai on Wednesday announced 17 per cent salary hike for government employees as an interim relief.
Talking to reporters in Bengaluru on Wednesday, he said an order to this effect will be issued immediately.
A committee headed by Additional Chief Secretary (Finance) will be constituted to study the New Pension Scheme in other states, the financial implications, and other issues, and then submit a detailed report.
The Chief Minister has appealed to the agitating employees to call off their strike.
Earlier, the Chief Minister extended a cordial welcome to Vice President Jagdeep Dhankar at Raj Bhavan.
Governor Thawar Chand Gehlot was present.
