Mangaluru, Mar 1: Kuldeep Kumar R Jain who took over charge as the police commissioner of Mangaluru on February 24, has taken vast measures to control criminal activities and illegal sand mining.
Panambur station police took into custody two sand laden trucks which were illegally transporting sand at MRPL overpass on February 25 and another two trucks illegally carrying 12-15 tonne sand on Tannirbhavi road on February 26.
Kankanady police station inspector took into custody a tipper lorry and two units of sand and empty tipper at Adam Kudru on February 28.
Ullal police station inspector and staff collected information of illegal sand storage near Somnath Ulia temple, Munnoor village, Ullal police station limits on March 1 confiscated ten loads of sand and an excavator.
All the seized items’ possession was transferred to the deputy director, mining and geology department for further action.
