Udupi, Mar 3: Solo rock climber Jyothiraj, who is also known as Kothi Raju climbed up a 25-storey building within 10 minutes in the city on Thursday, March 2.
The building is 250 feet tall. He started climbing up the building at 10.17 am and reached on top of the building in just 10 minutes without any safety harnesses and hoisted the Kannada flag. Kothi Raju is on a state-wide tour to build artificial walls and train adventure sportspersons.
Hundreds of onlookers were gathered at the spot to witness the feat. Many donated to his charity. Some also took selfies with him. Kotiraj was honoured with a shawl by the district fire service personnel.
Kotiraj said that the heat was extreme and he felt thirsty as he climbed. Both the building and the rods were hot. Some senior citizens gave him water to drink from a window.
Jyotiraj said, “I want to establish a climbing foundation and build a huge wall and train those who are interested like me. I need to train boys to bring gold in Olympics for India in this sport and fly the tricolour in overseas countries also.”
