Mangaluru, Mar 4: The city court has sentenced the persons involved in the Palliabba murder case to life imprisonment.
The accused who were convicted are Mohammed Hamza (47), Azharuddin alias Azhar (29), residents of Malar, Ameer alias Ammi (29), Mohammed Afraz (23) and Ataullah alias Altaf (23), residents of Sajipa Nadu village.
Palliabba was running a finance business, and his brother registered a missing complaint with the police on October 29, 2020. The investigation revealed that Palliabba had gone in an autorickshaw with Hamza, Afraz, Ameer, and Altaf.
Hamza had borrowed Rs 72,000 from Palliabba, who was asking for it to be returned regularly. The two used to have verbal arguments over the matter. On the same issue, Hamza, along with other accused, took Palliabba to a hill at Alikrupadavu, murdered him, and buried him there.

Inspector Madhusudhan of the Konaje police station conducted the investigation and filed a chargesheet at the court. Justice B B Jakati, who conducted the inquiry, pronounced the verdict on Friday. Additionally, the judge ordered the accused to pay Rs 300,000 in compensation to Palliabba's daughter.
The prosecution was represented by Narayan Sherigar U, the public prosecutor.
