Mangaluru, Mar 4: MLA U T Khader has called on prime minister Narendra Modi and home minister Amit Shah to clarify their stance on corruption and price hikes ahead of the state elections.
"As the election draws near, central BJP leaders including the prime minister and home minister are set to visit Karnataka to reassure the people. However, they must also clarify their position on corruption and the increase in gas prices," Khader said.
"BJP MLAs' sons have been caught red-handed taking bribes, and the price of gas has gone up, including commercial gas by Rs 350. The government is trying to collect taxes indirectly from people and is surviving on the taxpayers' money."
"BJP leaders are turning a blind eye to the people's problems. We can see posters with the BJP slogan, which says 'BJP Baravase.' Now, they have changed it to 'BJP's assurance of corruption.' Despite numerous complaints from the contractors' association, the education department, and religious centers about commissions, no investigation has been carried out. Changing the name of a road or a circle does not provide employment opportunities for young people," Khader added.
"We demand a judicial inquiry into the complaints filed by the contractors' association about a 40% commission, the PSI scam, commissions over funds released for religious centers, and the complaint from the education department," Khader said.
