Mangaluru, Mar 4: Police have arrested accused Keshava in an abetment to suicide case of a 33-year-old woman and her four-year-old daughter.
Death of the woman and her daughter was reported on March 1 at 6th cross, Kodialbail under the Barke police station limits.
The police had booked three persons including Keshava under IPC Section 306 ('abetment to suicide') following the suicide of the woman and her daughter.
The police produced him before a court which remanded him to judicial custody. Police are investigating the role of the other two accused - Babu and Mamatha - in the case.
Police commissioner Kuldeep Kumar Jain confirmed the arrest.
Reports said the woman, identified as Vijaya, along with her daughter Shobika and a 12-year-old had attempted to end their lives by hanging themselves after writing a death note.
The 12-year-old managed to survive and informed the complainant over the phone about the tragedy. Upon arrival at the scene, the complainant found Vijaya and her other daughter hanging from a ceiling fan in the hall of her home.
Prior to committing suicide, Vijaya had written a death note with the help of her daughter, accusing Keshava, a resident of Jeppinamogaru, and two others named Babu and Mamatha of instigating her to take this drastic step.
