Mangalore: A C Jayaraj Conferred Status of Religious Commander

Mangalore, Jun 18: President of Karnataka State Malayalee Christian Association, and city-based notary and advocate, A C Jayaraj, has been conferred with the status of religious commander. This honour is being extended to people involved with religious services of highest order.

The honour was conferred on Jayaraj by the supreme universal head of Syrian Orthodox Church, His Holiness Ignatius Zakka Iwas, at a ceremony organized at his palace located at Damascus in Syria.

Jayaraj, in the capacity of the secretary of St Antony’s Jacobite Syrian Cathedral, Jeppu, in the city had taken a lead in building of the new church there in 2005. The building was completed in 2010, and blessing and purification, and consecration were held during this year. He also was appointed as the convener of St Ignatius Jacobite Syrian Church in Beltangady Shibaje, and successfully completed construction of this church too, which was blessed and consecrated during  February this year.
