Mangaluru, Mar 9: Highest temperature of 38.8 deg C in the country is recorded in the city for the second time on Wednesday.
Public are concerned about the soaring mercury day-by-day. IMD has warned of rise of about two to three degrees in temperature in coming days.
The temperature that was recorded in Mangaluru on Wednesday is the maximum since 2010. So far 37.9 deg C recorded in 2017 was the highest. Six days ago, on March 2, the city recorded 37.9 deg C, which was again highest in the country. The prevailing temperature is 5.4 deg C more than usual for this period. On Wednesday, Karwar recorded 38.6 deg C, which is six deg C more than usual for this time of the year.
According to IMD three deg C more temperature will be recorded in many parts of the state in coming days. According to the present trend rain is likely after March in some parts of the state. In coastal region, the rains are expected in March.
The main reason for the increase in temperature is the dry weather and heat wave that is blowing from North to South. In the month of April, the temperature will increase by six degrees in Dakshina Kannada, Udupi and Uttara Kannada.
