Bangalore: Will Not Attend Further Meetings of Lokpal Panel - Hegde

Bangalore, June 18 (IANS) Karnataka Lokayukta (ombudsman) N Santosh Hegde said Saturday June 18 that he will not attend further meetings of the Lokpal bill draft panel as he has prior commitments.

"There is no question of withdrawing from the panel though I will not be able to attend further meetings as I have commitments to meet," he told reporters here on the margins of a function.

He said: "A suggestion has been made that the prime minister and judges should be under the Lokpal, but the government has rejected it."

Hegde, a retired judge of the Supreme Court, is one of the five civil society members on the 10-member panel that includes five central cabinet ministers.

The other civil society members are Gandhian Anna Hazare, social activist Arvind Kejriwal and lawyers Shanti Bhushan and his son Prashant.

The government side is represented by Pranab Mukherjee, P. Chidambaram, Kapil Sibal, M. Veerappa Moily and Salman Khursheed.

With LokPal Bill do you think corruption will end in India? No way, our smart Indian Generation will find another loophole in Indian Law to siphon black money. What we failed to understand till date that, any black money deposited outside India will not come to use of any one Indian including the person who kept the deposit nor his family members. At the end of the day, all those money will be cease by European Government for their countries development only. And we poor Asian Great People will say “see how European Countries are progressing”
Hegde, Anna, Munna, Baba, Sai, etc etc …. All will die one day and same corrupt people will place garlands on their body and say ONE SHOULD NOT FORGET THE SACRIFICE OF THESE LEADERS

I am in agreement with the comments of Mr. George Borromeo, angelore, Mangalore.

Anna’s team look to be quite inexperienced and they seems to be not aware of the ramification of the Lokpal Bill on the institution like Judiciary and other democratic institutions like Prime Minister’s office. Their argument is only based on PM as individual and not as institution. I do not understand the credibility of the people like Mr. Kejrival whose press conference itself exposes his inexperience.

With the type of the Lokpal bill by so called civil society, they want an unelected Lokpal to be supreme with control over PM and Judiciary. They fail to understand the fact that Lokpal will be one from us who can also influenced by the menance of corruption and can do things detrimental to democracy by dethroning governments at the behest of vested powers (including foreign powers).

Our forefathers have written the constitution by maintaining good balance between all institutions and hence even today we have vibrant democracy because of strong constitution. There is a need to take all the care that our constitution is not dented by any acts/laws on the basis of popularity but the endurance and credibility.

Justice Hegde is one of well qualified personnel in the committee and must have been disillusioned by both Anna Team and Government representatives function in Lokpal drafting committee. Government can not run away from the mess it has created by faltered approach of giving undue leverage to a small group of Anna Team instead of serious discussions with all Political Parties.

Mr. Santosh Hegde must be a honest man but he has failed miserably in Karnataka. He makes reports against corrupt people, hold several press conferences blames people first and then goes back to them to patch up. He could not tackle corrupt people in power at the state level, can such a person be part of such an important Lokpal Panel?

Justice Hegde is disillusioned over the manner Anna Team and Government representatives function in Lokpal drafting committee.
The so called Civil Society loosing its credibility due to immature Political aspirant Baba Ramdev's recent stunt.
Government in its part faltered by not including representative from other National Political Parties.

    Dear Sir,

We have full faith on your commitments in the Karnataka State, you have bunch of works to complete before your term. We request you to retire from the panel so that another person will represent actively in the panel of Lokpal Bill. As you aware the bill was not passed several times. Let us hope for that this drafting committee will come up with a hope and our Elected Rep. will pass in the Parliament

    To George, Kerala
With present scenario entire public of India are FED UP with worst stage of corruption/loot in the past 2 years. As you said in your comment that Mr.Hegde should co-operate with the elected Govt.,? WHY??
in democracy who is electing the Govt.,? Our politicians before election they promise something else and after being elected do the opposite !! which is quite common in our country. The so called Miinisters/Industrialist/Bureaucrats who are behind the Bars in Tihar jail are well qualified. What is the use of their eduction? If they don't have qualities of governance?

Why the Govt.,in centre failed to take action on Karnataka State Govt.? till now??. It appears if the Karnataka Govt is 'CHOR' Govt.,in centre is 'MAHA CHOR' Therefore LOKPAL BILL is a revolution in our democracy which sounds good.

BETTER HEGDE YOU DON'T ATTEND ANY MEETINGS OF LOKPAL BILL. YOU ARE MAKING LOT OF PARTIALITY. WHY SHANTI AND PRSHANT BHUSHAN FATHER AND SON ARE IN LOKPAL. IS IT THEIR FAMILY BUSINESS? WHY YOU HAVE NOT TAKEN ANY ACTION AGAINST CM YEDDY WHO IS DOING SO MUCH OF CORRUPTION IN YOUR OWN STATE AND WHICH IS PROOVED. WHY YOU ARE ONLY AFTER PM AND SONIA AND UPA GOVERNMENT. CAN'T YOU SEE WHAT IS HAPPENING IN KARNATAKA YOUR OWN STATE. WHY YOU HAVE NOT TAKEN ANY ACTION AGAINST REDDY BROS. NOW WE HAVE DOUBTS THAT YOU ARE A CROOK AND YOU ALSO HAVE BEEN PAID HEAVILYBY YEDDY SO THAT YOU WILL NOT INVESTIGATE HIM OR TAKE ACTION AGAGIST HIM. SO ITS BETTER FOR YOU TO GET OUT OF LOKPAL BILL AS THE MEMBERS WHO ALL ARE THERE IN THE COMMITTEE ARE ALL CHORS AND CORRUPT PEOPLE. FIRST CHANGE YOUR ENTIRE TEAM.

The Janlokpal Proposed Bill already derailed when Baba Ramdev jumped in to bandwagon of anti-corruption movements of his own fight ahead of Hazare's.But the drafting committee members who throw hat in favor of DONGI -BABA by then Hazare team lost some seriousness and respect from the public.Anna's one day fast in support of Ramdev made things in favor of politicians who by tooth and nail opposes any kind of effective ombudsman!Anna Hazare's outburst and dictating language on the issue of framing of JANLOKPAL BILL in democracy not Augurs well for citizens point of view.Irrespective of all hiccups I am always with ANNA's TEAM.However, MR Santhosh Hegde must remain in the team and contribute to form historical, effective and unprecedented JANLOKPAL BILL.

It is not a good news. Mr J.n.S.hgde must have received Sandesh from Advani and thereore he must be withdrawing fro further meetings. It is unfair. mr Hegde as Lokayukta has not been doing justice to the position. Coplaints are pprocessed very slowly. it takes 4 months get a acknowledgement. Enquiries , Mr Venkatachala was far more fast and effective. There was fear among the Govt. employees. Now they laugh when I say I will file complaint beore the Lokayukta. Mr Hegde must be active in the committee and also in his office as Lokayukta. Else public will misunderstand him as publicity savy.

Mr. Hegde doesn't show his back. He knows in India it is impossible to eradicate corruption. That is why he doesn't wants to be part of 'mission impossible'. Mr. Hegde is a gentleman and when he stood against corruption in Karnataka, BJP leaders from Delhi begged him to refrain from this & he could not refuse them because he knew alone he can't fight the various Mafias in Karnataka.

if mr.hegde is sincere, let him firstly take action against the corruptions in his own state. corruption allegations are not new to our country. where was he till this time?. if he is sincere he should co-operate with the elected government, and not to co-operate with the selfmade anna team.
