Kundapur, Mar 13: Dalit Sangharsh Samiti (DSS) state president T D Rajagiri urged social welfare minister Kota Srinivas Poojary to implement the anti-Dalit Atrocity Act comprehensively or give up his position.

Rajagiri was addressing the protesters gathered in front of minister Kota Srinivas's residence who were staging an indefinite strike organised by Bahujana Samaja Parivartana movement state committee and state DSS committee Bengaluru.

Rajagiri further said, “Fundamental facilities should be provided immediately for the victims and family members, who fall under the SC/ST Atrocities Prohibition Act of 1989. Many protests have already been held in this regard. Now the demand is in its final stage and stage is set for the ‘Madu Illave Madi’ indefinite protest.

“We have held protests in front of residences of various ministers, Cubbon Park and Vidhana Soudha. Though hundreds of appeals have been made to various governments, no action has been taken so far. The state and union governments have to wake up and provide justice to Dalit families.”

It is learnt that minister Kota Srinivas Poojary is in Bengaluru. Rajagiri said that the protest will continue till the minister arrives at his residence.
