Doha: Karnataka Sangha Qatar Brings Children's Talents to Fore

Doha, Jun 19: The prize distribution ceremony of Children Talent Search – 2011 held recently, was organized by Karnataka Sangha Qatar (KSQ) here on Friday June 17.

The event was for kids hailing from Karnataka including seven cultural events and three Indoor Sports events in different categories, which were held on June 10. On the day drawing, written quiz, singing, dancing, fancy dress and elocution competitions were held at Skills Development Centre from 8 am to 12 pm. More than 135 children participated.

A new addition this year was Indoor Sports, held on Friday June 17 at Indian Cultural Centre from 8 am to 11:30 am. Prize distribution started by 4.30 pm in the evening. Around 40 paticipated in games like carrom, chess and table tennis.

President V S Mannangi welcomed the gathering and thanked the parents for encouraging kids to take part in the competition. Winners of dancing and singing category from the previous weekend performed again, much to delight of the audience

Chief guest of the occasion and president of Indian Community Benevolent Fund (ICBF) Nilangshu Day officially launched Karnataka Sangha Qatar web site - www.karnatakasanghaqatar.com.

Creator of the website Mahesh Gowda briefly elaborate on the features of the website.

Following its tradition of helping the needy Karnataka Sangha made a donation to ICBF. Nilangshu Dey received the cheque from KSQ treasurer Nagesh Rao.

Millennium magic award winner and illusionist Prahlad Acharya’s talking doll and shadow show were the main attractions of the programme.

KSQ volleyball team was felicitated for their performance in recently volleyball tournament. Winners were presented with a trophy, a gift voucher and a certificate. All the children who participated in the talent search were also given certificates and gifts.

Former president and chairman of ISD Arvind Patil, ex-president Prabhakar, Tulu Koota Qatar president Ramachandra Shetty, Bunts Qatar president Ravi Shetty, general secretary of ICBF Divakar Poojary, president of KMCA Saquib Raza Khan, vice-president of Bunts Qatar Prakash Chandra Ajila, and Social Activist Iqbal Manna were present.

Mysore Manjunath Rao compered.

      Well organised event with opportunities to the children to display their talent not only in the cultural front but also in sports. Guest Artist Mr.Prahlad Acharya mesmerised the audience with his versatile skill, specially the shadow show.       An overwhelming response from kids made this year's Children Talent Search - a Huge success. This has certainly given us encouragement to oragansie more children oriented events in near futrure. Mr. Prahlad Acharya's lived up to his reputation as a master performer. His Illusion show has mesmerised gathered audience
