Udupi: Fraudsters swindle Rs 6.90 lac on pretext of providing visa to job seeker

Udupi, March 14: A foreign job aspirant has been cheated of Rs 6.90 lacs by a fake recruiting agent here.

The victim Jayaraj Acharya read an advertisement that mentioned about providing foreign jobs in whatsapp and he telephoned the mobile number mentioned in the ad.

The person on the other end posed that he is an agent processing passports and visas. He conducted an interview online and made Jayaraj Acharya remit a total of Rs 6.90 lacs to the bank accounts of the accused between January 9 and February 8, 2023.

The fraudsters neither refunded the amount nor provided Jayaraj the victim the visa that was promised.

A police complaint has been registered at CEN police station in this connection under crime No. 32/2023 section 66 (C ), 66 (D ) I T Act.
