Mangalore, Jun 20: St Sebastian PU College hall at Permannur near Ullal was inaugurated by the bishop of Mangalore Dr Aloysius Paul D’Souza here on Monday, June 20.

The programme commenced with a short prayer service led by the bishop along with the melodious school choir, soon after which the bishop consecrated the school hall.

The chief guest of the occasion MLA U T Khader, episcopal vicar Dr Baptist Menezes, president of the Ullal town municipal council Basil D’Souza, Lancy Mascharenhas of Lancy Constructions, vice-president of St Sebastian Church Lucas D’Souza, correspondent Fr Thomas D’Souza and assistant parish priest Fr Ajit, principal Fr Clemant Mascharenhas and bishop Dr Aloysius Paul D’Souza were the dignitaries present on the dais.

Bishop Aloysius Paul D’Souza in his speech appealed to the students to live a value-enriched life and to have the determination to change the society into a better one.

Dr Menezes, in his speech, advised the students to imbibe and reap the fruits of the five ‘D’s namely decision-making, determination, dedication, devotion and discipline in their lives in order to become effective individuals.

MLA U T Khader called Mangalore a “paradise for students”. He said that education is the only way out from the existing social evils. He requested the students to make use of the education facilities provided and become the wealth of the nation, thereby eradicating illiteracy and poverty.

Lancy Mascharenhas from Lancy Constructions and engineer Melwyn D’Souza were felicitated by the bishop.

A cake was cut by the bishop who will be celebrating his birthday on Tuesday, June 21.

    Good work!!!
Hope the fees will be fixed such that its affordable to the common man as well.
Of course any institute cant run without money, and its high time that the clergy realizes that the money comes through donations for helping the poor people.
