Udupi, Jun 23: The infant reportedly stolen from Herur near Brahmavar here on Wednesday June 22 was found at Kallianpur late evening.

The infant was traced near a bus stand at Santekatte with a woman. The locals who grew suspicious of the woman's behaviour informed the police, who later took the child into custody. The woman was questioned by the police. However, it is yet to be known whether the said woman abducted the child or the child was handed over to the woman after being kidnapped.

The infant was finally found in the evening after intense search by locals and the police had failed, initially.

The nine-month-old Nagamani is the daughter of Chinna and Lakshmi from Nasserjung in Chittapur taluk of Gulbarga district. The couple had arrived here as migrant labourers to work at national road expansion site of Navyug Constructions that has been carrying out NH works between Kundapur and Suratkal.

The child was lying asleep a little away from work site near Supreme Feeds, Herur. The couple had lodged a missing complaint with Brahmavar police.
