Kundapur, Mar 27: In an accident that occurred near Pakashala hotel of Kumbashi on NH 66 on Sunday March 26 between a two-wheeler, car and bus, the rider of the two wheeler died, while the pillion was seriously injured.

Prashant Poojary (28) and Vignesh Poojary (27), both residents of Koravadi Manimane Bettu, who were riding on the two-wheeler were seriously injured in the collision. Both were admitted to private hospital at Manipal. However, Prashant succumbed to injuries in the night.

It is said that the car suddenly entered the highway from inner road and hit the two-wheeler. Both the rider and pillion got flung to the road. The bus, which was behind the two-wheeler, ran on the vehicle and also hit the right side of the car. In the meantime, a truck hit another car.

As there is no parking place on both sides of NH 66 at Kumbashi, many people park their vehicles by road side, which results in vehicles approaching from inner road not getting the view of the vehicles travelling on the highway. Locals urge that a service road needs to be built here soon.
