Mangaluru/Udupi, Mar 28: Nine people were arrested in four separate cases in the twin districts on the accusation of consumption and sale of narcotic ganja.
Suratkal police raided a rented house and confiscated ganja worth Rs 8000, an auto rickshaw, four mobile phones and took into custody four accused. The accused are identified as seller of ganja Vikram of Meenakaliya, customers Sathish of Kodialbail, Sarfraz of Honnakatte and Akshay of Baikampady. The total value of confiscated goods is Rs 87,470.
PSI Pradeep T R and personnel Annappa, Ajit Mathew, Dilip and Kartik were in the team that raided the rented facility near Suratkal.
In another case, Chintamani and Duba, natives of Orissa, were arrested near Govind Dasa College Suratkal on the accusation of selling ganja. As much as 3.180 kg of ganja was confiscated from them and the duo was taken into custody by Suratkal police.
In Udupi, Junai Syed (22) was arrested on the accusation of smoking ganja in a public place at Manipal. In the forensic examination, ganja consumption is confirmed. A case is registered in CEN police station.
In Byndoor, two people were taken into custody by police for smoking ganja in public place. The arrested are Vidyadhar Poojary (20), a resident of Shiroor and Nagaraja Mogaveera (23), also residing at Shiroor. Byndoor police are investigating further.
