Mangaluru: Fire mishap at Adyar ice cream warehouse, loss worth crores estimated

Mangaluru, Mar 28: Loss to the tune of crore of rupees is estimated in the fire that occurred at Ice cream warehouse and manufacturing unit at Adyar on the outskirts of the city late night on Monday March 27.

It is learnt that electrical short circuit was the cause of the mishap.

The warehouse had stock of Nandini ice cream products. In addition, the ice cream manufacturing unit also got gutted in the fire.

Fire service personnel rushed to the spot and brought the fire under control. The loss is estimated to run into crores of rupees. It is learnt that the warehouse belongs to Harshamani S Rai.

    Nandini can compete. Their prices are lower than other brands sold in the costal area. All brands have their purpose. If you're going to serve ice cream at functions you'll go for nandini Or other local brand rather than the better quality and little expensive products available in the market.

    There is a system for dousing fire automatically called as Automatic Fire Suppression System which the people are not aware of as it is slightly expensive. The system which has gases like CO2 & Clean Agent can prevent such huge losses and douse the fire at source. Our age old mentality of waiting for Fire Brigade has to reduce as when it reaches the site the level of fire increases drastically.
