Mangaluru, Mar 28: Many issues faced by passengers at Mangaluru Junction train station will be hopefully resolved through proposed upgradation of the railway station under Amrit Bharat scheme of union railway ministry.
Though accessed by thousands of passengers, Mangaluru Junction train station lacks basic infrastructure like proper connectivity and bus station.
The blueprint for the proposed upgradation is already made ready and tender process is underway according to the information given by P Deva Danam, PRO of Palakkad divisional railway authority.
All railway stations that are selected for upgradation under the Amrit Bharat scheme will be continuously developed with long term development vision. DPRs for entrance of railway station, movement areas, waiting area, toilets, lifts and escalators, cleanliness, free wifi, kiosk to market local products, space for business meetings and landscapings will be done in phases.
In addition, renovation of existing buildings, approaching of railway stations from both ends of city, Multimodel integration, wheelchair access for specially abled persons. Environment-friendly measures, upper story plazas according to necessity and other requirements are kept in mind while finalizing the plan.
