Mangaluru, Mar 29: "I am confident that the party will announce me as the candidate for the forthcoming elections," said former MLA Mohiuddin Bawa.

He was addressing a press meet at the Congress office here on Wednesday, March 29.

Bawa further said, “There are rumours cropping up against me to mislead people. I am sure that the party will announce my name as the official candidate for the Mangaluru North constituency.

“When I was the MLA, I had brought several crores of grants for the development of the constituency. But efforts are on to tamper my image by spreading false news. Though I am not the MLA now, I had requested MLC B M Farooq to allot funds for the development works of the constituency. MLC Farooq sanctioned 1.60 crore for the development work,” he said.

Answering media questions over rumours that cheques given will bounce, he said, “None of my cheques got bounced. Rumours are being spread. If anyone proves the allegations, I will retire from politics.”
