Lucknow, Jun 26: Uttar Pradesh CM Mayawati warned her party members of misconduct, after firing MLA Shahnawaz Rana, whose aides were accused in kidnapping and attempting rape on two girls.

In the past too Mayawati had taken action against 12 party leaders and issued warnings to party functionaries several times.

Both Rana and his uncle Kadir Rana, BSP MP from Muzaffarnagar have criminal cases pending against them. Kadir is also accused of setting a police post on fire during the 2004 Lok Sabha elections.

Rana's Brother Sadaam is also an accused in a kidnapping incident and had allegedly raped and murdered a young girl year ago.

But in a warning directed at Rana, Mayawati has made it clear that she will not tolerate any misbehaviour against women.

Prominent BSP leaders against whom Mayawati has taken action include Bikapur MLA Anandsen Yadav, Dibai MLA Guddu Pandit, Nareni MLA Purshottam Dwivedi, her right-hand man and minister Babu Singh Kushwaha, and minister Anant Kumar Mishra, a close associate of BSP SC Mishra.

Mayawati had announced the expulsion of over 500 party leaders and workers with criminal records in May 2010, but their names were never made public.

Nevertheless, in the Lok Sabha elections of 2009, BSP gave tickets to at least 14 mafia dons but only Dhananjay Singh won from Jaunpur.
