Sullia: Huge wild fire in forest area – Public, dept officials trying to put off blaze

Sullia, Mar 30: Forest area of Nalkooru, Yenekallu and Balpa region is burning with huge wild fire. Forest department is trying its best to bring the fire under control.

The fire was first noticed on Tuesday in the Thumbathaje, Valpare and Charmata regions. Though this was controlled on the evening of Tuesday, the fire erupted again on Wednesday.

Forest department, bravery and calamity unit, members of various organizations and locals are trying to put off the fire. The fire is brought almost under control till Wednesday evening. However, the locals fear that the fire might erupt again in the night due to the heavy breeze.

This forest area is full of bamboo trees which catch fire within no time.
