Bantwal, Mar 30: Three women of the taluk are selected to have interaction with the President of India, Droupadi Murmu, at the Rastrapati Bhavan in Delhi.
Varija and Amita of Alike Anugraha Okkuta and Indravati of Kolnadu Netravati Sanjivini Okkuta are the lucky ones who got invitation from Rashtrapati Bhavan.
Tribal women belonging to self-help groups from all over the country are being invited to Rashtrapati Bhavan to meet the president. From Karnataka 30 women are selected.
Varija works as MBK for the past three years in Anugraha Sanjivini Okkuta and was inspired for self-employment from the group. She does jasmine agriculture, goat farming and poultry farming. She is very happy and says that she never dreamt of such a chance to meet the president of India.
Amita lives in a joint family. She works as guest teacher at Kanyana KPS educational institute. Her family is involved in mushroom agriculture in addition to jasmine and dairy farming. She says that Sanjeevinin Okkuta has given new lease of life to me. “Going to Delhi is one of the happiest moments of my life,” she says.
Indravati is with Kolnadu Netravati Okkuta for the past 20 years. She sells Papads, Sandige and also does tailoring. She says that every week she gets new inspiration from the self help group of Sanjivini. She has also expressed happiness over the chance to meet president.
The entire cost of the trip will be borne by the state government. The team includes two officials and 30 women. They will meet president in Delhi on March 31.
