Udupi: 18-year-old Ashwini Seeks Relief from Heart Ailment

Daijiworld Media Network - Udupi (RD/CN)

Udupi, Jun 27: 18-year-old Ashwini is no ordinary girl. She has had to fight her way through life, and her struggles are far from over.

Daughter of Ramanand and Varija Poojary, Ashwini suffers from a congenital cardiac disorder. She managed to complete her SSLC, but had to abandon her studies due to her deteriorating health.

Surgeons at Jayadeva Institute of Cardiovascular Sciences and Research, Bangalore, have advised her to undergo surgery as her condition has been worsening of late.

Her father Ramanand is a poor daily wager in Palimar who used to earn a livelihood by plucking coconuts in his neighbourhood. But he too had to give up his work due to illness. Varija, her mother, rolls bidis, and the family lives in a thatched hut built from charity extended by a donor.

Although Ramanand and Varija have a son who was good at studies, he had to abandon his education in order to support the family by working as a daily wager.

The family, which does not have a proper dwelling and no sustainable income, faces the challenge of taking care of their ailing teenage daughter. Surgeons at Jayadeva Institute of Cardiovascular Sciences and Research estimate that the cost of surgery would be around Rs 1 lac and this is beyond the family’s means.

The family seeks the support of generous donors who can contribute to the medical treatment of Ashwini and give her a new lease of life.

    Hi Waletr,

As courtesy to Ashwini, I was conversing Ashwini`s story with Dr. Devi Setty. He has asked me to come down with her. Since I`m based in Canada, I will not be able to do so. Could you please refer this conversation to Ashwini`s parents and family members to take her to Dr.Shetty in Narayana Hrudayalaya

Hi , I am sending Rs. 10,000/-. I am not telling this to boast - but, it is a mark of appreciation to Daiji world for bringing this news and to encourage them to help more and more people. This money what I am sending is not my contribution instead I treat it as contribution of Daiji world and thank you for the same as a fellow citizen.
