Mangaluru: Four-member family from Mysuru die by suicide in lodge

Mangaluru, Mar 31: Four people ended their lives in a lodge on K S Rao road in the city. The incident came to light on Friday march 31 morning.

The deceased are identified as Devendra (48), Nirmala (38) and 9-year-old twin daughters Chaithra and Chaithanya.

The family had taken the room on rent on March 27 and were supposed to vacate on March 30. The family is of Vijayanagar, Mysuru origin.

While the husband was found hanging, the wife and two children were found dead in sleeping position.

A death note was found in which financial problem was mentioned behind taking the extreme step.

Bunder police rushed to the spot and undertook investigation.

    These days many such stories in the news and I am not surprised. Now, if one wants to construct a home , even in a native village, one must have a minimum cash of Rs. 15 lacs. How does one make this money, with only minimum Rs. 25k monthly, with household expenses, school fees etc? One marries out of social pressure and then, couples cannot sustain themselves especially in this economy with this government. If housing and food are taken care of, it would be a wonderful thing. Especially for our people, there has to be the rent control act applied to all of india, There are over 3890000 units vacant across India, where the real estate sector is heavily subsidized by the government. If the government takes over these units and offers a family the unit, no one needs to build houses. People can pay rent and live life long. It will save the lives of many such individuals who are struggling in silence today under EMIs, bills, fees etc. This is one more reason for India to wake up from its slumber since 2014.

    Gas is 1100 rupees. Any veg less than 100 rupees we don't get. Schoolfees and uf some one in the family sick finished. Commission even if we want information and bribe in mist of the offices.

    Sad but harsh reality. Increasing costs, reduced margins, cut throat competition, cheating-fraud-forgery, bribes, burden of taxes, family issues, automation and artificial intelligence taking away your jobs are all the causes for suicides. People may think I am targeting BJ p. But try to run your memories back and try to recall how many 'mass suicide' cases have you read in news past 2014? Cheddi hatao desh bachao.

    Overleveraging to satisfy a lifestyle beyond reasonable means with the help of finance companies that are cannibalizing the debt market. Interest rate increase although may be welcomed by those having savings, those on debt will suffer. While we were finding it funny when US fed raised rates after maintaining rates artificially low for a long time, leading to banks going bust there, RBI is not doing very different here. Don't know if this is the reason, but it is sad that financial problems must lead to this fatal end.

    Suicide is not a solution. But nowadays people suffering lot and silently taking this type of steps to end life. Many are in financial. Crisis due to high cost of living. But Abdhbhakts never understand the present situation and still support blindly.

    This is the big risk that all lodges face... While the business seems to run smoothly such incidents make a big dent for no fault of the owners... When customers check in it is impossible to read their minds... Especially when they come as family it will be beyond any doubt.... Unfortunate incident... RIP to the departed souls....
