Bengaluru, Mar 31: KPCC Chief D K Shivakumar’s brother and Bengaluru Rural MP D K Suresh has accused ruling BJP leaders of ‘’looting crores of rupees’’ as part of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s frequent visits to the State as ‘Modi Tour Deals’ and alleged that BJP leaders have looted ‘not 40% but 300%’.

Addressing the media at his residence in Bengaluru on Friday, he said Modi has been bragging that he will ‘Na Khavoonga, Na Khaane Doonga’, but the BJP leaders have looted crores of rupees in the guise of Prime Minister’s 7 visits to State before the announcement of elections.

Suresh alleged that BJP has inflated bills and spent Rs 59 crore for installing the statue of Kempegowda at the Bengaluru International Airport and another Rs 30 crore on the programme, which is nothing but a loot of tax payers’ money.

The Congress leader claimed that the government has spent Rs 8.5 crore for the development of the airport road, which is the responsibility of BIAL. “Were there any potholes on the road and did Prime Minister travel on the road? Why did the Bommai government spend money on this stretch of road,’’ he asked.

The Prime Minister came by flight and returned by flight. “Why did the ruling party waste tax payers money in the guise of developing the airport road, which is the responsibility of BIAL, he questioned.

Suresh alleged that the government has spent Rs 12 crore for erecting a pendal for Prime Minister’s programme. “Two sets of new pendals can be purchased by spending that much money. Again, the government has spent Rs 1 crore for providing drinking water to the people who attended the programme. How many litres of water was consumed by the people. Another Rs 6.5 crore has been spent on making bus arrangements to fetch people. If this is the case of one programme in Bengaluru, how many crores of tax payers’ money was looted,’’ he asked.

Suresh claimed that Rs 50 lakh was spent for building a kitchen and Rs 77 lakh for cultural programme.

He accused Higher Education Minister Dr C N Ashwath Narayan, who has been trying to project Vokkaligas as ‘Murders’ by raising the issue of fictional characters Urigowda and Nanjegowda in Mandya of being ‘’behind the loot of Rs 30 crore.’’

Suresh demanded that a thorough investigation into the amount spent by the government in connection with the 7 pre-election visits of Prime Minister and also on the 9 visits by Union Home Minister Amit Shah.

The Congress leader demanded the immediate arrest of Horticulture Minister Munirathna for instigating Tamils against Kannadigas in Rajarajeshwari Nagar Constituency and for creating an atmosphere of fear in the constituency.
